hoblet in backround Nov 2012.JPG

Our "haven" is home to five donkeys, a white mule, four potbelly piggies, Monty and George, the two sweetest little goats, three dogs and one husband (lol).

All have been rescued from one trauma or another; abuse, neglect, the meat man. Two were on death row!

We are proud to work with our local humane societies to help whenever and wherever we can. They are a wonderful bunch of misfits that will wiggle their way into your heart. Their energy is therapeutic.

We receive no funding or assistance of any kind for their upkeep, they are our "family".  We are most appreciative for folks choosing to stay at the hoblet and the twiglet as this revenue helps to care for and maintain the animals. The "boys" consume over nine hundred pounds of hay per week and have farrier services for their hooves every 8 weeks along with regular deworming and vaccinations with vet visits.  It is our mission to help spread awareness about donkeys, mules and all animals and continue helping however we can. Hear their stories and share their spirit. There is truly some great energy kicking around here! (There is more information in the cottages about our other rescue projects as well). Our "fur family" is now 14 strong & growing.

Homey

Check out those ears!

Homey was found at the livestock auction going for meat.  He is a mammoth donkey and our gentle giant.

Buddy

He is the boss and knows it! Buddy came with Homey from the meat auction. Buddy is actually a mule, a beautiful boy. He will command your attention.

Squeeky & Tyson

Squeek was locked in a cage with rams and Tyson had slipper foot so severe he could barely walk. They are both a little shyer than the big boys.
